Where Does SD.Next Store Models and Outputs?

SD.Next keeps models in a models folder and generations in outputs, both under the install dir and both remappable.

Last updated

SD.Next is portable by design: everything hangs off the folder you cloned it into. Models sort into type named subfolders (Stable-diffusion, Lora, Diffusers, embeddings, and friends), while finished images and videos collect in outputs.

Every one of those locations is remappable in Settings under System Paths. Point the hungry folders (modelFIR cache especially) at a big drive before the first bulk download, not after.

Where SD.Next stores this, by platform

Windows
[InstallDir]\models

Checkpoints, LoRAs and diffusers models sort into type subfolders here and auto-detect on scan. Outputs collect in [InstallDir]\outputs\. Remap both under Settings, System Paths.

macOS
[InstallDir]/models

Same install relative layout. Avoid paths with spaces or admin ownership; the installer warns against both and means it.

Linux
[InstallDir]/models

Same layout, launched via webui.sh. The Hugging Face cache folder setting controls where bulk downloads land, so aim it at large storage.

Frequently asked questions

I downloaded a model manually. Where do I put it?

Drop the file into the matching models subfolder (Stable-diffusion for checkpoints, Lora for LoRAs, Diffusers for diffusers models). Auto-detect picks it up on the next scan; restart if it does not appear.

My drive is full. How do I move models elsewhere?

Change it in Settings under System Paths. The Hugging Face model and cache folders deserve attention first since they grow fastest.
