Where Does Polari Store Accounts and Logs?

Where GNOME Polari keeps IRC accounts, logs and settings on Linux for backup and full moves.

Last updated

Polari keeps IRC accounts and options in dconf with channel logs as files in its data folder. There is no account syncing them; the local files are the whole state on every install.

Copy data plus a dconf dump with Polari closed for migration. Logs save per network as plain text, easy to carry singly between installs. This is the GNOME Polari client, unrelated to Polaris Office despite the name overlap.

Where Polari stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.local/share/polari

Accounts in dconf with logs as files in the data folder. Not Polaris Office; different app entirely. Copy with Polari closed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Polari to a new install?

Copy the data folder with Polari closed, then verify accounts on the new install. Accounts travel in config, logs beside them. Re-enter server passwords where networks require them.

Polari IRC or Polaris Office?

This post covers the Polari IRC client, not Polaris Office with a similar name. Search with IRC to land right. Different developers, different storage entirely.
