Where Does PrimeHack Store Saves and Config?
PrimeHack shares Dolphin user folders for saves and config, unless portable.txt isolates it beside the exe.
Last updated
PrimeHack is a Dolphin fork for Metroid Prime mouse control, and it inherits Dolphin storage wholesale. Default user folders hold Wii NAND, GameCube cards, states, and config: Documents Dolphin Emulator on Windows, .dolphin-emu on Linux, Application Support Dolphin on Mac.
Sharing cuts both ways. Untouched installs read your existing Dolphin saves, which feels like magic until settings collide. Portable mode or the user path variable gives PrimeHack its own world, at the cost of starting saves from scratch.
Where PrimeHack stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Dolphin Emulator
Wii NAND, GC cards, states, and config below User. Portable.txt beside the exe redirects everything to a local User folder.
~/.dolphin-emu
Same role as the Windows User folder. Override with DOLPHIN_EMU_USERPATH when sharing one home across installs.
~/Library/Application Support/Dolphin
Same shared layout. Check Config Paths inside the app before assuming saves live here versus a portable folder.
Frequently asked questions
How do I stop PrimeHack sharing settings with Dolphin?
Drop a portable.txt file next to the PrimeHack exe (outside Program Files). It builds a local User folder and stops sharing Dolphin settings.
My PrimeHack saves vanished. Where are they?
Check Config Paths for the active User path first. Saves follow the User dir, so a portable install hides them next to the exe instead.
How do I move the user folder elsewhere?
Set DOLPHIN_EMU_USERPATH to the folder you want. It overrides defaults on Mac and Linux the same way portable.txt does on Windows.
