Where Does Psi+ Store Profiles and Chat Logs?

Psi+ keeps XMPP profiles with history and settings in per-profile folders under app data.

Last updated

Psi+ stores each XMPP identity as a profile folder with its own config, contact list, and chat history. The default profile holds everything unless you created more.

That folder layout makes migration trivial and deletion dangerous in equal measure. Copy the profile and the account follows; delete it and years of history go with no server copy to restore. Check for extra named profiles before assuming default is all there is.

Where Psi+ stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Psi+\profiles\default

Default profile with config.xml, history, and avatars. Copy the whole profiles tree for migration; extra named profiles sit beside default.

Linux
~/.config/psi+/profiles/default

Same per-profile layout under the XDG config home. Profile folders transfer directly between Linux machines and from Windows.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Psi+ to a new computer?

Copy the profile folder to the same location on the new machine. Profiles carry accounts, history, and settings together, so one folder is the whole migration.
