Where Does Blabber Store Accounts and Chats?

Blabber keeps XMPP accounts and chat history in app-private storage with keys in the device keystore.

Last updated

Blabber stores XMPP accounts, OMEMO keys, and message history in the app's private database. The device keystore guards the secrets, and no cloud account mirrors the set.

Migration runs through device backups or manual database copies for rooted users. The server side holds messages only transiently, so the phone is the archive by default. Back up before switching devices or the history starts over.

App-private database + keystore (no cloud copy)

Accounts, keys, and history live here, invisible to file managers. Migrate through encrypted device backups; servers hold no recoverable copy.

Frequently asked questions

Do my chats survive a new phone?

Accounts and roster return with an encrypted device backup or a manual database copy. Anything never backed up dies with the phone, since servers hold no identity.
