Where Does PSPad Store Settings?
PSPad stores settings in PSPad.ini beside the exe, or in the user profile in MultiUser mode. Recent and search files travel with it.
Last updated
PSPad is a single exe editor with file based settings. The main file PSPad.ini sits next to the program by default, holding application preferences. Companion files cover recent documents, search history, autocorrect, and script configs.
MultiUser mode changes the layout. On NT systems it redirects user specific files (settings, recent lists, cache) into the profile Application Data folder. The program folder then holds only shared resources like converters and language files. Delete PSCache.bin any time to clear stale file state without touching preferences.
Where PSPad stores this, by platform
C:\Tools\PSPad\PSPad.ini
Main settings beside the exe in standard installs. In MultiUser mode this file lives in the profile instead.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\PSPad\PSPad.ini
User settings and state in MultiUser mode. Recent.ini and PSCache.bin here hold history you may want to clear for privacy.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up PSPad settings?
Copy the program folder including PSPad.ini, or the profile PSPad folder in MultiUser mode. Recent.ini and Search.ini hold history and find options.
Is PSPad portable?
PSPad needs only its exe to run. Settings default next to it unless MultiUser mode redirects them to Application Data in your profile.
