Where Does Quick Assist Store Data on Windows?

What Quick Assist actually stores on Windows, where its logs sit, and why sessions leave no files behind.

Last updated

Quick Assist keeps almost nothing on disk by design. Each session uses a one time code over a relay, and closing the window ends it without a transcript. What persists is minimal: package state plus diagnostic logs.

Do not go hunting for session recordings; none exist. The package LocalState folder holds settings and the logs subfolder holds connection events for troubleshooting. Support flows that need records should use Steps Recorder alongside the call.

Where Quick Assist stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\MicrosoftCorporationII.QuickAssist_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState

Settings and diagnostic logs only; no session transcripts exist. Check the logs subfolder when connections fail. Nothing here needs backup before reinstalls.

Frequently asked questions

Can I review a past Quick Assist session?

No. Sessions run over an encrypted relay and leave no transcript or recording behind. Take screenshots during the call when you need a record. Logs hold connection events, not screen contents.

Does Quick Assist need cleanup after helping someone?

No cleanup is needed for privacy; closing the window ends everything. The package folder holds only settings and diagnostic logs. Uninstalling the Store app removes even those leftovers.
