Where Does Quixel Bridge Store Downloaded Assets?
Quixel Bridge downloads Megascans into a Megascans Library folder in Documents. Defaults on Windows, macOS and Linux, and moving it.
Last updated
Bridge downloads every Megascans asset into one local library folder. Inside you get Downloaded for finished assets, Custom for imports and Mixer output, and support for plugins and the image processor. The folder balloons fast, which is why its placement matters on small SSDs.
You choose the spot once at first launch, then change it under Preferences > Library Path any time. Moving it later does not migrate existing downloads for the in-engine Bridge, so plan the drive up front. Right-click any asset and choose Go to Files to jump to its exact folder.
Where Quixel Bridge stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Megascans Library
Default for both desktop Bridge and the Unreal Engine plugin. Change it in Preferences before bulk downloading. Set QUIXEL_DEFAULTLIB_PATH for shared lab machines.
~/Documents/Megascans Library
Same Downloaded, Custom and support structure as Windows. Point Mixer at the identical folder so both apps share one asset pool.
~/Documents/Megascans Library
Mirrors macOS. External drives work fine as library homes as long as they stay mounted; missing drives surface as empty libraries, not errors.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move the Megascans Library to another drive?
Set the new Library Path in Bridge Preferences first, then redownload or copy the Downloaded folder across. Desktop and in-engine Bridge don't auto-migrate, so verify one asset opens before deleting the old copy.
Where are Bridge plugins stored?
In the support subfolder of your Megascans Library. That is also where the Image Processor extracts itself. Leave it alone unless a plugin install visibly fails.
