Where Does RethinkDNS Store Config and Logs?
RethinkDNS keeps blocklists and logs in its private sandbox. Back up through in-app export, not file copies.
Last updated
RethinkDNS combines DNS filtering with a firewall, and both halves persist in the private sandbox. File managers cannot open it without root. The export feature exists for exactly this reason.
Treat the sandbox as ephemeral. System updates and reinstalls clear it. Anything you care about (custom rules, allowlists, DNS choice) should go through export before you touch the install.
Where RethinkDNS stores this, by platform
/data/data/com.celzero.bravedns
Private sandbox with blocklists, rules, and logs. Needs root to browse. In-app export is the migration path.
Frequently asked questions
How do I migrate RethinkDNS settings?
Export configuration from settings and import on the new phone. Sandbox copies need root and break across installs. The export carries blocklists, DNS, and firewall rules.
Where are RethinkDNS connection logs?
Open the in-app network log. Raw connection logs live in the private sandbox, so the viewer inside the app is the way to read them.
Does RethinkDNS store blocklists locally?
Yes. Downloaded blocklists cache inside the sandbox and refresh on schedule. Clearing app data wipes them and forces a full re-download.
