Where Does RizomUV Store Settings and Licenses?

RizomUV install folders, preferences and floating license files on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Last updated

RizomUV installs versioned folders per platform: Program Files on Windows, versioned app bundles on macOS, AppImage on Linux. Preferences save as session defaults from inside the app. Licensing is LM-X based, with node locked files on each machine or a floating license on a server.

Scripting setups care about one extra path. The RizomUVLink bridge ships inside the install directory on every OS, so pipeline tools locate the newest install rather than bundling their own copy.

Where RizomUV stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files\Rizom Lab\RizomUV

Versioned per release (VS RS year.minor). Node locked licenses bind to the machine ethernet address; floating setups point lmx-serv.cfg at the server .lic instead. RizomUVLink for scripting ships in a subfolder here.

macOS
/Applications/RizomUV.app

Universal2 bundles live versioned in Applications. License activation and defaults behave exactly as on Windows; only the paths change.

Linux
~/Applications/RizomUV.AppImage

Distributed as AppImage for RHEL compatible systems; run chmod +x before first launch. Extract with --appimage-extract to reach the bundled RizomUVLink scripting package.

Frequently asked questions

How does floating licensing find the license file?

Point RizomUV at the server IP and port 6200 in the license activation window. The .lic file itself lives on the server only, referenced from lmx-serv.cfg, never copied to clients.

Do RizomUV preferences persist between sessions?

Save them as defaults from the preferences window. Since the 2025 rework, shading, unwrap and packing options persist per session automatically once stored, with a factory reset one click away.

Is there anything else in the install folder worth knowing?

Yes, plus the RizomUVLink bridge folder for pipeline scripting. The versioned install path plus HKLM\SOFTWARE\Rizom Lab registry keys identify the newest copy for tools that need it.
