Where Are RoadCraft Save Files Located?
RoadCraft save folder under Saber AppData, organized by Steam ID and slot, plus its known recognition bug.
Last updated
RoadCraft keeps saves deep in local AppData under a Saber folder, organized by store, user ID and save slot. The nesting is genuine: storage, then steam, then user ID, then Main, then save, then one folder per slot. Copying the wrong level is the most common backup mistake.
Two quirks deserve attention. A leftover demo folder named RoadCraft can sit beside the real RoadCraftGame folder and confuse file hunts. And a widely reported bug makes the game ignore existing saves after crashes or driver updates, so keep versioned backups outside the AppData tree.
Where RoadCraft stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Saber\RoadCraftGame\storage\steam\user[Steam ID]\Main\save
Replace [Steam ID] with your numeric Steam account folder. Back up the whole save directory, not single files inside a slot. The demo leaves a separate RoadCraft folder without Game in the name. Ignore it.
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2104890/pfx
Proton folder for app ID 2104890. Follow the same Saber trail inside the virtual drive: drive_c\users\steamuser\AppData\Local\Saber\RoadCraftGame\storage\steam\user[Steam ID]\Main\save.
Frequently asked questions
how do i back up roadcraft saves
Copy the whole save folder with the game closed. Each SLOT folder is one campaign slot, so grab the parent save directory to catch every slot at once. Restoring means pasting it back under the same user ID path.
my save files exist but the game does not see them
This is a known RoadCraft issue: files present but ignored, sometimes after driver updates or shader recompiles. The community fix is verifying game files and avoiding demo folder leftovers named RoadCraft next to the real RoadCraftGame folder.
