Where Does ScreenFlow Keep Projects and Cache?

ScreenFlow projects are packages you place; cache and scratch hide in Library. The three spots that matter.

Last updated

ScreenFlow project files (.screenflow) are packages that live wherever you save them, with a Media folder inside holding the actual recordings. Zip the package before any cloud move; sync tools shred the bundle structure and produce missing media errors.

Support files hide in ~/Library. Caches sit under ~/Library/Caches in net.telestream.screenflow folders, prefs in ~/Library/Preferences. In progress captures use a scratch disk (private temp by default) as .scc files, reachable via Shift plus Help, then Open Temporary Folder. Crashed work may wait in ~/Library/Autosave Information.

Where ScreenFlow stores this, by platform

macOS
~/Library/Caches/net.telestream.screenflow

Versioned cache folders here; delete with the app closed to clear cruft. Projects themselves are wherever saved. Scratch .scc temp files live on the capture scratch disk until the recording completes.

Frequently asked questions

screenflow recording vanished, where is it

Check the capture scratch disk first via Shift plus Help, Open Temporary Folder for .scc files. Then look in ~/Library/Autosave Information for unsaved state. Point scratch at a custom disk in Recording Preferences to make future hunts easier.

can i store screenflow projects in dropbox

Only zipped. Live .screenflow packages corrupt under sync because the bundle looks like many files changing at once. Zip before uploading and unzip at the destination.
