Where Does Scrypted Store Data and Plugins?

Scrypted pairing keys and camera plugin storage folder paths on every OS for local network NVR install use.

Last updated

Scrypted keeps pairing state in a .scrypted folder in home. Windows uses %USERPROFILE%\.scrypted, macOS and Linux use ~/.scrypted. Device keys and plugin configs live inside.

Plugin data and recordings sit in volume subfolders beneath it. Each camera plugin manages its own retention there. Back up the whole folder with Scrypted stopped. Pairing keys cannot be recreated without readding devices. HomeKit plugins bridge cameras to Apple homes. Rebroadcast restreams to Chromecast targets. Two way talk needs plugin support.

Where Scrypted stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.scrypted

Pairing keys and plugin configs for the local install. Docker maps a volume here instead. Copy whole folder with the service stopped.

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\.scrypted

Same internal layout as Linux. Check plugin storage pages when disk fills since retention varies per camera. Keep keys safe.

Frequently asked questions

what do i back up for a Scrypted move

Copy the .scrypted folder with plugin volumes for full moves. It holds pairing keys and device configs. Recordings sit in plugin storage beside them. Keys without recordings still restore devices.

where are Scrypted camera recordings

Open the management console to read each plugin storage path. Defaults sit under the volume folder in .scrypted. Recordings grow fastest on camera plugins.
