Where Does SwarmUI Store Models and Output?

SwarmUI is portable, so models and images live in Models and Output folders under wherever you installed it. The path follows your install.

Last updated

SwarmUI has no fixed data directory. Everything hangs off the folder you installed it into: models under Models, generations under Output, server data beside them. Move the install and the whole library moves with it, which surprises people coming from apps that scatter files across AppData.

That portability is convenient until you forget where you unzipped it. Search the drive for a folder containing both Models and Output to reorient yourself. Point installs at a drive with real free space, since checkpoints and image history grow fast.

Where SwarmUI stores this, by platform

Windows
[InstallFolder]\SwarmUI\Models

Portable layout. Models sort into subfolders by type under Models, finished images land in Output. The exact drive letter depends on where you extracted the release.

Linux
[InstallFolder]/SwarmUI/Models

Same portable tree as Windows. Keep the install outside system temp paths so updates and cleanup tools never sweep your model collection.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a downloaded model to SwarmUI?

Drop the file into the matching Models subfolder (checkpoints with checkpoints, LoRAs with LoRA) and use the refresh button on the model list. Restart the backend only if the new file still does not appear.

My generated image never downloaded. Is it lost?

Check the Output folder under your install first, then the download bar in your browser. SwarmUI renders into Output and serves the image from there, so a finished generate that never downloaded is still on disk.
