Where Does Serato DJ Store Crates and Cues?
Serato DJ keeps crates, cue points, and history in the _Serato_ folder inside Music. Audio files stay wherever your library lives.
Last updated
Serato splits DJ data from audio. Crates, cue points, loops, beat grids, and session history live in the _Serato_ folder inside Music. The MP3s and FLACs stay in your own library folders, referenced by path.
That reference design decides backups: move audio and metadata together with identical paths or cues detach. External drives work when drive letters stay stable on Windows. Keep the _Serato_ backup current; rebuilding grids for thousands of tracks costs a weekend. Streaming tracks cache separately and never enter the crates.
Where Serato DJ stores this, by platform
%userprofile%\Music\_Serato_\
Crates, cues, and history here; audio stays in your library folders. Move both with identical paths. History exports per session from the History panel.
~/Music/_Serato_/
Same _Serato_ layout as Windows inside Music. Keep drive paths stable for external libraries. Time Machine restores need the audio folders too, not just metadata.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move my Serato library to a new laptop?
Copy the _Serato_ folder plus the entire audio library preserving paths to the new machine, then install the same Serato version. Cue points reference file paths, so renamed folders orphan them. Verify one old crate before gig night.
Where is my gig history?
Open the History panel after the set and export the playlist to CSV or a streaming playlist. History writes per session automatically. Rename the export by date and venue; default names blur together within a month.
