Where Does DJUCED Store Its Music Library?

DJUCED library database, config and automatic backups in Documents, plus where recordings land.

Last updated

DJUCED keeps its entire world in a Documents/DJUCED folder: the DJUCED.db library database, config.xml preferences, sample packs, recordings and a backup subfolder. Music files stay where they are; the database only organizes them.

Backups are automatic and generous. Every close writes a dated copy into backup, so playlist disasters undo in minutes. Migration is one folder copy plus music, finished with the Relocate tool.

Where DJUCED stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\DJUCED

Database, config, samples, recordings and dated backups all live here. Close DJUCED before copying or restoring anything. Antivirus false positives on this folder cause the classic missing recordings complaint.

macOS
~/Documents/DJUCED

Same Documents relative layout as Windows. Migration works cross platform by copying this folder, though music paths still need Relocate afterward since drive letters never match.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move DJUCED to a new computer?

Copy the whole Documents/DJUCED folder to the same place on the new machine, plus your music files. Then use the Relocate function to repoint missing tracks. Hercules documents this as the supported migration.

I deleted a playlist by accident, can I get it back?

Close DJUCED, copy a DJUCED_back dated file from Documents/DJUCED/backup over DJUCED.db, and restart. Backups write on every close, so yesterday's library is almost always there.

Where do my recorded mixes go?

In Music/DJUCED/Records/Mix as WAV plus an XML cue sheet. If nothing appears, check antivirus blocks on the Documents folder; Avast and NOD32 have both interfered historically.
