Where Are Servant of the Lake Save Files Located?

Servant of the Lake keeps save slots and settings together in one RustyLake folder on Windows and macOS, with Steam Cloud doing the syncing.

Last updated

Servant of the Lake is the Rusty Lake entry released on August 13, 2026, and like the rest of the series it keeps everything in one tidy folder per platform. On Windows that is a LocalLow folder under the RustyLake studio directory; on macOS it is the Application Support equivalent.

Save slots and Settings.json live together in a Serialization SaveFiles folder. That makes backing up or migrating a playthrough a single-folder copy, and it also means deleting the folder resets both your progress and your preferences at once.

Where Servant of the Lake stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\RustyLake\ServantOfTheLake\Serialization\SaveFiles

Save slots and Settings.json in one place. AppData is hidden, so paste the path into the Run dialog. Copy the whole SaveFiles folder to back up progress; Steam Cloud covers it too.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/RustyLake/ServantOfTheLake/Serialization/SaveFiles

The same SaveFiles folder on macOS, under Application Support instead of LocalLow. The tilde is your home folder; in Finder, use Go to Folder (Shift+Cmd+G) and paste the path.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move a Servant of the Lake save to another computer?

Close the game and copy the SaveFiles folder from the path for your platform. Paste it into the same spot on the new machine, or let Steam Cloud handle it when both copies have synced recently. The folder is small, so manual copying is quick.

Does deleting the RustyLake folder reset progress?

Yes. Save slots and Settings.json are in the same folder, so removing it wipes both at once. Copy it somewhere safe first, then let the game rebuild the folder with defaults if a full reset is what you want.

Where is the settings file for Servant of the Lake?

Settings.json sits beside the save slots at the end of the SaveFiles path. It is readable, but editing it by hand risks breaking a slot's pairing, and the in-game menu covers the same options with less risk.
