Where Does the Shadow PC Launcher Store Data?
Where the Shadow PC launcher keeps cache, preferences and logs on Windows.
Last updated
The Shadow launcher is an Electron app with data in two spots: Roaming\Shadow for cache, GPUCache, Local Storage, Preferences and launcher-prod.json, plus the install itself under Local\Programs\shadow. A dot folder in the user profile collects launcher logs.
Almost everything local is regenerable. That makes full folder deletion the standard fix from the community troubleshooting guides. Never confuse this cache with your cloud PC storage, which survives any local wipe.
Where Shadow PC stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Shadow\
Electron data root with Cache, GPUCache, Preferences and launcher-prod.json. Delete while closed to fix broken windows. The install binaries live separately under Local\Programs\shadow. Cloud files are unaffected by local wipes.
Frequently asked questions
The Shadow launcher window is broken or tiny. How do I fix it?
Close Shadow and delete the Roaming Shadow folder, then reinstall if needed. The launcher rebuilds caches and preferences on next start. Your cloud machine and files are untouched since those live server side.
How do I move Shadow to a new PC?
Copy nothing. Install the launcher on the new PC and sign in. Local data is disposable cache and Electron state, while the actual PC, apps and files follow your Shadow account.
