Where Does ShadPS4 Store Save Files?

ShadPS4 keeps saves per user and title under user/savedata. The portable style root plus the GUI opener.

Last updated

ShadPS4 stores saves under a user folder as user/savedata/<user-id>/<title-id>/<dir-name>, with param.sfo beside each save inside sce_sys. The user root defaults to a user folder next to the emulator files, portable style, on every OS. A config option can relocate the save data dir.

Each title folder mirrors the PS4 layout, so whole title dirs transplant cleanly. The GUI offers an Open Save Data Folder entry per game that jumps to the live path and creates it when missing. That beats resolving the relative root by hand, especially with custom save paths set.

Where ShadPS4 stores this, by platform

Windows
.\user\savedata\1

Beside the exe by default; user 1 is the usual id. Title folders (CUSA...) inside with sce_sys/param.sfo each. GUI Open Save Data Folder resolves custom paths.

Linux
./user/savedata/1

Same relative root beside the binary. Back up per title folders with the emulator closed. Filenames are case sensitive here.

macOS
./user/savedata/1

Same portable style root. Copy whole title directories to migrate; single file transplants confuse the param.sfo bookkeeping.

Frequently asked questions

how do i open my shadps4 save folder

Right click the game in the library and pick Open Save Data Folder. ShadPS4 creates and opens the live directory even with a custom save path configured. That is more reliable than navigating to user/savedata by hand.

can i move shadps4 saves to another pc

Yes. Copy the title folder from user/savedata/1/<title-id> to the same spot on the new machine. Keep the sce_sys contents with it; param.sfo marks the save valid.
