Where Are Silksong Save Files Located?
Silksong save folder on Windows, macOS and Linux, and how its Team Cherry path sits beside the original Hollow Knight saves.
Last updated
Silksong follows the same Unity rules as the original Hollow Knight. Windows uses AppData/LocalLow under a Team Cherry folder, Mac uses Application Support with a unity prefix, Linux uses .config/unity3d. Slots are user1.dat through user4.dat again.
The sequel gets its own Hollow Knight Silksong subfolder next to the original game, so the two never mix. Copy the whole Silksong folder with the game closed and Steam Cloud paused. Microsoft Store copies hide in an encrypted wgs package instead of readable files.
Where Hollow Knight: Silksong stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight Silksong
Paste %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight Silksong into Explorer. Back up all user*.dat files plus .bak copies together.
~/Library/Application Support/unity.Team-Cherry.Silksong
Note the unity prefix and hyphens, which differ from the plain Team Cherry folder on Windows. Use Go > Go to Folder to open the hidden Library.
~/.config/unity3d/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight Silksong
Native Linux builds use this XDG path. Steam Deck Proton installs nest under compatdata in your Steam library instead, so search there if empty.
Frequently asked questions
Can I copy Hollow Knight saves into Silksong?
No. The sequel reads only its own Hollow Knight Silksong folder with fresh slots. Keep the original folder untouched and start new Silk Soul runs in the new location.
Why did my Silksong save disappear after a crash?
The active userN.dat was likely mid-write. Duplicate the folder first, then rename the matching .bak file to userN.dat and relaunch with Steam Cloud paused to test.
