Where Are Sons of the Forest Saves Located?
Sons of the Forest save folder on Windows, split into SinglePlayer and Multiplayer saves under your Steam ID.
Last updated
Sons of the Forest saves under AppData LocalLow in the Endnight folder. Inside Saves is a folder named with your Steam64 ID, split into SinglePlayer and Multiplayer branches.
Each world is a numbered folder of JSON files. For co-op, the host machine holds the world, so that is the machine to back up.
Where Sons of the Forest stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves
Paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves into the File Explorer address bar. Find your Steam64 ID folder, then SinglePlayer or Multiplayer. The Xbox Store build uses a Packages container path instead.
Frequently asked questions
How do I share a co-op world with a friend?
Copy the numbered folder inside Multiplayer, not individual files. The save is a set of JSON files (SaveData.json, GameSetup.json, PlayerInventorySaveData.json) that only work together.
Is the dedicated server save in the same place?
Dedicated server saves live in a separate server-side path without the Steam ID layer. Client paths below are for singleplayer and peer-to-peer co-op hosting only.
