Where Does Spicetify Store Config and Themes?
Spicetify config folder with config.ini, themes and extensions on Linux.
Last updated
Spicetify keeps its config.ini, themes, extensions and custom apps in a dedicated config folder, separate from Spotify's own data. Patching applies these onto the Spotify install in place.
Spotify updates frequently overwrite the patch, while the Spicetify folder survives untouched. Re-run the backup and apply commands after each Spotify update.
Where Spicetify stores this, by platform
~/.config/spicetify/config.ini
Main config pointing at the Spotify install plus prefs. Themes live in Themes, extensions in Extensions and custom apps in CustomApps next door. Copy the spicetify folder to migrate the whole setup, then re-apply on the new machine.
Frequently asked questions
Spotify updated and my theme vanished. Why?
Updates replace patched Spotify files. Rerun spicetify backup apply with the config above untouched and the theme returns.
Where do Spicetify themes go?
Into the Themes subfolder of the directory above, one folder per theme. Select them with spicetify config current_theme.
