Where Does Yaxim Store Accounts and Settings?

Yaxim keeps its single XMPP account in private app storage, exportable through built in backup files.

Last updated

Yaxim is a minimal XMPP client holding one account plus its settings in private storage. Message carbons from the server refill recent history, but the account itself lives only on the phone.

Migration runs through the app's own backup files. Export them to shared storage, move them over, and import on the new install. File level copies cannot work without root.

Where Yaxim stores this, by platform

Android
/data/data/de.duenndns.yaxim

Private storage with the account and settings. Confirm the package on the Play Store listing if absent. Backup files export to shared storage from inside the app.

Frequently asked questions

how do i move yaxim to a new phone

Export the backup from Yaxim settings on the old phone, transfer the file, and import it in the new install. The private data folder itself never transfers.

does yaxim keep chat history

Only briefly and locally. The server's message archive supplies history on login if enabled there. Yaxim's own storage centers on the account, not an archive.
