Where Are Stray Gods Save Files Located?

Stray Gods saves under a Chorus folder in LocalAppData, a leftover of the game's working title.

Last updated

Stray Gods keeps saves and config under a folder named Chorus, its development codename. The layout is otherwise plain Unreal Engine 4: SaveGames for progress, Config for settings, both under LocalAppData.

The name is the only surprising part, and it matters when searching. Grep your drive for the game's title and you find nothing. Search for Chorus and the whole save tree appears. Copy the SaveGames folder for backup; Steam Cloud mirrors it anyway.

Where Stray Gods stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Chorus\Saved\SaveGames

Story progress and route checkpoints. Search for Chorus, not the game title, when browsing. Steam Cloud syncs this folder.

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Chorus\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

Settings live here (WindowsNoEditor), separate from progress. Useful for graphics tweaks and keybind resets.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1920780/pfx/

Proton prefix for the Windows build (AppID 1920780). The Chorus tree appears inside the prefix's virtual LocalAppData.

Frequently asked questions

Why is everything called Chorus instead of Stray Gods?

That is the game's development codename sticking around in the file layout. Chorus-labeled folders are Stray Gods data, not a separate install.
