Where Does r2modman Store Mod Profiles?

Where r2modman keeps mod profiles per game on Windows and Linux, and how to open a profile folder fast.

Last updated

r2modman isolates every profile under an app data folder named r2modmanPlus-local, then per game and per profile. A Risk of Rain 2 Default profile and a Valheim modded profile never share files.

Do not dig by hand if you can avoid it. The in-app Browse profile folder button resolves the per-game nesting for you. Manual navigation is only needed for restores or sharing files outside the manager.

Where r2modman stores this, by platform

Windows
%AppData%\r2modmanPlus-local\[Game]\profiles\[Profile]

Per-game profiles live here (e.g. ...\RiskOfRain2\profiles\Default with BepInEx\config inside). Easiest access is Settings, Locations, Browse profile folder. App itself installs to AppData\Local\Programs\r2modman.

Linux
~/.config/r2modmanPlus-local/[Game]/profiles/[Profile]

Same per-game nesting as Windows (game folder, then profiles, then profile name). Native installs currently use ~/.config; the project plans to move bulk data to ~/.local/share. Use Browse profile folder to be safe.

Frequently asked questions

What is the fastest way to open a profile folder?

Select the profile, open Settings, then Locations, then Browse profile folder. That opens the exact folder with BepInEx, config, and mods. Typing the path by hand is slower and easy to get wrong across games.

What happens if I delete a profile folder?

Each profile folder holds its own BepInEx install plus the mods for that profile. Deleting the profile folder removes those mods but leaves other profiles and the base game alone. Export a profile code first if you might want it back.
