Where Are TOEM 2 Save Files Located?

TOEM 2 saves inside its install folder under Save, next to Settings.json, so a manual reinstall can wipe progress that Steam Cloud has not restored.

Last updated

TOEM 2 breaks from the AppData habit. The photography adventure writes its save data into a Save folder inside the game's install directory, Windows and Mac alike, with Settings.json sitting in the same place. Nothing goes to Documents or LocalLow.

That choice has a practical edge. Steam's verify option leaves unknown files alone, so it will not touch your photos and progress. Deleting the install folder by hand, or letting a launcher fully uninstall the game, takes the Save folder with it. Steam Cloud covers the latest copy in normal use, but a manual backup before a clean install costs nothing.

Where TOEM 2 stores this, by platform

Windows
[Steam]\steamapps\common\TOEM 2\Save

Save data plus Settings.json beside the executable. Reach it through Steam's Browse local files option. Verify leaves it alone; deleting the install folder removes it.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/TOEM 2/TOEM 2.app/Save

Same Save folder inside the app bundle. Right-click the bundle and choose Show Package Contents if Finder hides it. Steam Cloud syncs App ID 2900640.

Frequently asked questions

Does verifying Steam files delete my TOEM 2 save?

No. Verification repairs game files and ignores files it does not recognize, so the Save folder and your progress survive. Only a manual delete of the install folder removes them.

Where is the TOEM 2 Settings.json file?

In the same Save folder as your progress, next to the executable. Editing or replacing it changes display and audio settings only, not your photos or story progress.

Does TOEM 2 have Steam Cloud?

Yes. Steam Cloud syncs the Save folder for App ID 2900640, so same-account moves usually carry progress. Keep a manual copy before uninstalling, since a cloud restore can lag.
