Where Are Toem Save Files Located?

Toem saves stamps and photos in a Something We Made folder under LocalLow, with autocloud quirks on Steam.

Last updated

Toem is a Unity photography game with saves in LocalLow/Something We Made/TOEM/Save: quest progress, PhotoData, album pictures, and Settings.json together. Mac and Linux use their platform Unity roots.

Steam autocloud is the known hazard: it can replace local photos with stale cloud copies, including deleting PhotoData. Exclude or remove the autocloud vdf when restoring manual backups. Bus-pass stamps live in the same folder.

Where Toem stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Something We Made\TOEM\Save

Quest progress, photos, PhotoData, Settings.json. Copy the whole Save folder closed. Watch autocloud overwrites on restore.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/se.SomethingWeMade.TOEM/Save

Same Save interior under the bundle-ID folder. Microsoft Store builds instead use a wgs sandbox with Xbox Cloud.

Linux
~/.config/unity3d/Something We Made/TOEM/Save

Same interior under the Unity config root. Proton builds mirror the Windows tree inside the prefix.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Toem saves?

Copy the whole Save folder with the game closed. Photos, PhotoData, and Settings travel together; partial copies confuse the album.

Steam Cloud wiped my Toem photos. How do I restore?

Pause Cloud, restore the Save folder without the steam_autocloud.vdf file, and launch once. Cloud happily overwrites local photos otherwise.
