Where Does Tresorit Store Synced Files and Cache?

Tresorit syncs through a Tresorit folder you place locally, with profiles, cache, and logs kept separately in AppData or Library.

Last updated

Tresorit has two local footprints. Synced tresors live wherever you put the Tresorit folder, often directly under the user profile. That part is plain files you can back up like any folder.

The second footprint is the profile cache: encrypted metadata, search indexes, and logs. On Windows that sits under AppData Local in the Tresorit versioned folder. On Mac it sits under Library Application Support. That cache can grow large on libraries with many files, which surprises people checking disk usage.

Where Tresorit stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Tresorit

Default synced location. Each tresor can be remapped elsewhere. A hidden .tresorit subfolder inside each sync root stores sync state.

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Tresorit\v0.8\Profiles

Encrypted profile cache with search indexes and sync state, plus a Logs subfolder. Size scales with library file count.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Tresorit

Profile and Core Logs live here. Use Go to Folder in Finder to open it, since Library is hidden.

Frequently asked questions

How do I keep Tresorit files offline on my PC?

Yes. Turn on sync for that tresor and point it at a local folder. Drive style access without sync only caches the ten recent files plus a one day rotating cache.

What is the .tresorit folder inside my synced data?

Do not delete it. That hidden folder tracks sync state and selective sync choices. Removing it unpairs the folder and forces a fresh sync setup.

Where are Tresorit logs when sync breaks?

Open the profile path for your OS and look under Logs. Support usually asks for those files first when sync stalls or the Drive mount misbehaves.
