Where Does tuigreet Keep Its Settings?
tuigreet keeps no config file: every option rides the command line inside greetd's config.toml, with sessions from shared dirs.
Last updated
tuigreet is configured where it is launched: the command line in greetd's config.toml default session. Greeting text, theme spec, time format, remembered users and power commands are all flags there, versioned with the rest of the login setup.
Session choices come from shared .desktop directories (/usr/share/wayland-sessions, /usr/share/xsessions), and debug output goes to /tmp/tuigreet.log with -d. Nothing else persists, which keeps the greeter stateless by design.
Where tuigreet stores this, by platform
/etc/greetd/config.toml (tuigreet command line)
The tuigreet ... flags after command = are the whole configuration. Sessions from shared session dirs; debug log at /tmp/tuigreet.log via -d. See greetd docs for the surrounding schema.
Frequently asked questions
Where is tuigreet's config file?
There is none to edit. tuigreet is fully flag-driven; theme, greeting, session dirs and power commands all live on the tuigreet command line in /etc/greetd/config.toml.
My window manager is missing from the tuigreet menu. How do I add it?
Add a .desktop file to /usr/share/wayland-sessions (or /usr/share/xsessions for X11). tuigreet lists those directories; --sessions and --xsessions flags can extend them.
