Where Does Tusky Store Accounts and Drafts?

Tusky keeps accounts and drafts in its private sandbox. Log back in on a new phone, drafts do not transfer.

Last updated

Tusky is a window onto your Mastodon server. Accounts authenticate locally, content lives remotely. The sandbox holds tokens, drafts, and preferences.

Migration means logging in again, full stop. There is no export. That is fine for posts and follows, which the server keeps. It stings for drafts, which nobody keeps.

Where Tusky stores this, by platform

Account tokens, drafts, and preferences. Needs root to browse. No export exists, log in again on new phones.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Tusky to a new phone?

Install Tusky and log into each account again. Posts, follows, and media live on your instance. Drafts and local settings stay on the old phone.

Do Tusky drafts survive reinstall?

No. Compose drafts sit in the local sandbox and clear on uninstall. Post or copy long drafts elsewhere before wiping.

Where are Tusky downloaded images?

Downloaded media lands in shared storage where galleries see it. Account tokens stay sandboxed. One side is portable, the other is not.
