Where Does Ueli Store Settings and Extensions?

Ueli v9 stores settings in the standard Electron userData folder: %APPDATA%\ueli, ~/Library/Application Support/ueli, ~/.config/ueli.

Last updated

Modern Ueli (v9 and later) is a standard Electron app, so its settings live in the platform userData directory with the app name appended. That is the whole story: one folder per OS, extensions and preferences inside.

The fastest route is the in-app settings panel. Go there to change things. Touch the folder directly only for backups or full migrations, and remember a v9 install ignores anything left over from v8.

Where Ueli stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\ueli

Close Ueli before copying this folder between machines. Settings edited in app (Ctrl+,) write here immediately.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/ueli

Same contents as Windows, under the macOS Application Support convention. Open with Finder > Go > Go to Folder.

Linux
~/.config/ueli

Respects $XDG_CONFIG_HOME when set. This is the v9 location; the old v8 ~/ueli.config.json file is ignored by current builds.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open Ueli settings without finding the folder?

Press Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux or Cmd+, on macOS, or open the Settings button in the launcher itself. That edits the live files directly, which beats hunting through AppData.

Do v8 settings carry over to v9?

No. v9 was rewritten from the ground up and applies defaults on upgrade, so treat it as a fresh setup. The old v8 file (~/ueli.config.json from the khanhas fork era) is not read.
