Where Does Anyrun Store Config and Plugins?

Anyrun keeps config.ron, style.css and plugin libraries in ~/.config/anyrun, overridable with --config-dir.

Last updated

Anyrun centers on ~/.config/anyrun/config.ron: geometry, plugins list, layer behavior. Shared objects for each plugin sit in plugins/ beside it, with per-plugin ron files alongside and style.css theming the GTK4 shell.

Nix users get the same tree generated from home-manager options instead of hand edits. Either way the directory is the unit: back it up whole, plugins included, or restores launch a bare runner.

Where Anyrun stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/anyrun/config.ron

Geometry, plugin list, layer settings plus plugins/*.so and style.css. Nvidia hangs need GSK_RENDERER=ngl; --plugins limits runs to named libraries.

Frequently asked questions

Anyrun opens but finds nothing. What is missing?

Copy examples/config.ron to ~/.config/anyrun/config.ron and list plugin .so files in it. Without plugins Anyrun starts empty, since results come only from loaded libraries.

Can I run Anyrun with a different config?

Pass --config-dir <dir> (or -c). Flags also override individual options per run, which suits testing a second layout without touching the live one.
