Where Does uGet Store Queues and Settings?

Where uGet keeps download queues, categories and settings on Linux and Windows for migration.

Last updated

uGet pairs a config folder with a download directory you choose. Queues, categories, speed limits and aria2 plugin options live in config; finished files live in downloads. Clipboard monitoring feeds the same queue.

Copy config with downloads stopped so resume state writes cleanly. The aria2 backend keeps its own session beside the queue, so both halves matter for large batches. Confirm the live paths in Settings before scripting backups.

Where uGet stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/uGet

Queues, categories and plugin options under XDG config. Respects custom XDG paths. Stop downloads before copying so aria2 sessions flush.

Windows
%APPDATA%\uGet

Same config pattern under Roaming on Windows builds. Confirm the download dir in Settings. Clipboard monitoring state copies with the folder.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate uGet to a new computer?

Close uGet and copy its config folder plus the download directory. Queues and categories travel in config, files in downloads. The password store needs the same login keyring on the new machine.

Where does uGet save files by default?

Open Edit Settings and read the download folder. Defaults point under home Downloads, but the field always shows the live path. Per category folders override it for sorted downloads.
