Where Does FatRat Store Queues and Settings?
Where FatRat keeps queues, settings and default downloads on Linux, and which legacy path to check.
Last updated
FatRat is a Qt download manager for Linux with Jabber and torrent support beside HTTP. Queue, credentials and options live in a config folder, while finished files land in a download directory defaulting under home.
Older builds used a dot folder directly under home instead of XDG config. Upgraded machines can hold both, with the newer one live. Confirm the download path in Settings, then copy config with transfers stopped.
Where FatRat stores this, by platform
~/.config/FatRat
Queue and settings under XDG config on current builds, dot folder on older ones. Confirm the download dir in Settings. Stop transfers before copying.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up FatRat queues?
Stop all transfers and copy the FatRat config folder plus the download directory. Queue and settings travel in config, files in downloads. Older builds used a hidden home folder instead, so grab that too when present.
Why do I have two FatRat folders?
Check for both the XDG config folder and a hidden home folder, and use whichever exists. Qt builds moved from home folders to XDG config between releases. The queue format stayed compatible.
