Where Does UserLAnd Store Linux Distributions?

UserLAnd keeps Linux distributions as filesystem images in app storage, one per installed distro.

Last updated

UserLAnd runs Linux distributions from filesystem images stored in the app's private storage. Each installed distro is a large image file plus its settings, invisible to file managers.

Those images are the bulk of the app's footprint, often gigabytes per distro. Files you create inside Linux live inside the image, so back them up through normal means like SSH or cloud sync before wiping. Deleting the app deletes every distro with it.

Where UserLAnd stores this, by platform

Android
App-private storage (distro images); no fixed shared path

Distro filesystem images and settings live here, invisible to file managers. Back up files from inside Linux first; uninstalling deletes all distros.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove a distro to free space?

Delete the distribution from inside UserLAnd rather than by hand. The app tracks its filesystems, and orphaned images waste gigabytes invisibly.
