Ventoy keeps no settings on the host PC: the Windows exe and Linux script run in place with no install, no registry, no AppData. All configuration lives on the USB stick at /ventoy/ventoy.json on the first (large, ISO holding) partition, UTF-8, comment free, outermost object.
The classic silence is placement: ventoy.json on the 32 MB VTOYEFI partition or with backslashes or wrong case gets ignored without error. Themes, scripts and plugins all nest under /ventoy with forward slash references; VentoyPlugson edits it safely and F5 Tools validates on device. Back up /ventoy before -u upgrades, which can delete misplaced configs.
