Where Does YUMI Store Multiboot Files?
YUMI keeps everything on the target USB in a multiboot folder. Portable exe with no PC-side storage.
Last updated
YUMI stores nothing on the PC. The executable is portable with no AppData folder and no registry settings. Every artifact lands on the target USB stick instead: one folder per distribution under multiboot, boot configs beside them, and a UEFI grub file at the root.
Re-running the tool appends entries without reformatting, which is the whole point of multiboot. ISOs copy straight into the multiboot tree or get extracted there per distro. Running the exe from a folder of ISOs auto-detects them; otherwise browse per entry. The stick is the backup.
Where YUMI stores this, by platform
<USB>:\multiboot
One subfolder per installed distro with syslinux.cfg and menu configs beside them. UEFI entries in <USB>:\boot\grub\grub.cfg. The exe itself stays wherever you downloaded it; ISOs auto-detect from its folder or a browsed path.
Frequently asked questions
Where does YUMI keep its settings?
Nowhere on the PC: the tool is portable and writes only to the target USB. Copying the exe moves the app. Menu entries and ISOs live in the multiboot folder on the stick, so back up the stick itself.
How do I add another ISO to a YUMI drive?
Run YUMI again, pick the same USB device and the new ISO. It appends a menu entry without touching existing entries. Removing one ISO means deleting its multiboot subfolder plus its menu lines.
Does YUMI work on UEFI machines?
Yes through the UEFI-enabled exfat builds with grub config at boot/grub on the stick. Secure Boot may still refuse the chain, so disable it or enroll hashes per machine. Legacy BIOS entries use the syslinux configs instead.
