Where Does Wavebox Store Profiles and Backups?

Where Wavebox keeps profiles and local snapshot backups on Windows and Mac, and how to export them by hand.

Last updated

Wavebox keeps Chromium style profiles with an extra snapshot layer for local backups. Each profile holds its apps, settings and tab state. Versioned snapshot files accumulate beneath the profile for point in time restore.

The exact tree differs per OS but the tail stays constant across them. Use the in app export for portable moves and the snapshot folder for quick rollbacks. Close the browser before copying snapshot files so none are half written. Sleep states and pinned tabs restore from the same snapshot, so stale copies reopen old work.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up a Wavebox profile by hand?

Open Settings, General, Data and Sync, then Import and Export, and run Export for a portable copy. For a manual grab, copy the newest file from the versioned snapshot folder with Wavebox closed. Keep both halves until the restore proves healthy.

What is the difference between Wavebox Profiles and Spaces?

Profiles are full environments with their own apps and settings, while Spaces are cookie containers inside one profile. Backing up the profile folder covers every Space it holds. Export per profile when moving machines.
