Where Does Wavosaur Store Settings?

Wavosaur is portable: wavosaur.cfg and wavosaur.ini sit next to the exe, with nothing in the registry or AppData.

Last updated

Wavosaur keeps its configuration where the executable lives. wavosaur.cfg holds the settings, wavosaur.ini tracks things like last opened files, and both are created in the program folder itself. It writes nothing to the registry.

That makes the whole app a folder you can carry on a USB stick. Moving machines is copying one directory. Editing works the same way: quit Wavosaur, open the cfg in Notepad, tweak values, start it again.

Where Wavosaur stores this, by platform

Windows
<wavosaur-folder>\wavosaur.cfg

Whichever folder you unzipped Wavosaur into. Always edit with Wavosaur closed, or your changes get overwritten on exit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I fully uninstall Wavosaur?

Nothing. There is no installer and no registry or AppData footprint (on modern builds), so deleting the folder removes the program completely. Save any recordings kept inside it first.

Which settings can I only change in wavosaur.cfg?

Some options exist only in the file, like VST paths, sample paths and bit depth flags. Close Wavosaur first, open wavosaur.cfg in Notepad, change the VALUE fields, then relaunch.
