Where Does WorkOutDoors Store Workouts?

WorkOutDoors Watch workouts in HealthKit plus GPX export on iPhone.

Last updated

WorkOutDoors writes every tracked workout into Apple HealthKit on the paired iPhone, which makes Health the real database: routes, heart rate, splits and calories live there and sync across devices with iCloud. The Watch app and its iPhone companion hold settings, custom screens and cached maps.

Exports are files you create deliberately. Share any workout as GPX, TCX or FIT from the iPhone app into Files for Strava, analysis tools or backups. Without exports the data exists only in HealthKit, which is fine until an account or restore goes sideways.

One time purchase with no account or subscription. Configure screens and maps in the iPhone app; they push to the Watch. Export key efforts to Files regularly as the portable backup.

Frequently asked questions

how do I back up WorkOutDoors workouts

Export as GPX or TCX from the iPhone app into Files or cloud storage. HealthKit syncs to iCloud too, but exports are the only copies you can open anywhere or import into other platforms.

where are WorkOutDoors settings kept

In the Watch app and iPhone companion (screens, data fields, map tiles, intervals). They transfer with the Watch pairing and app reinstalls only loosely, so screenshot complex screen layouts before resetting.
