Where Does Wox Store Settings and Plugins?
Where Wox keeps settings.json and plugin data on Windows, and how to reset it cleanly.
Last updated
Wox stores user state under Roaming AppData: settings.json at the root plus per-plugin folders beside it. The program files live separately, so settings survive updates and reinstalls.
Portable mode aside, this one path covers backup and reset. Copy the folder to migrate machines. Delete settings.json (with Wox closed) to return to defaults without touching installed plugins.
Where Wox stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Wox\settings.json
Main settings file plus per-plugin data folders beside it. Exact plugin subfolder names may vary by version. Delete settings.json with Wox closed for a clean reset.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reset Wox settings?
Quit Wox, delete the settings file below, and relaunch. Wox rebuilds defaults on start. Reinstalling alone preserves the file, so deletion is the actual reset. Plugin folders beside it may need separate cleanup.
Where is plugin data?
Each plugin keeps its own folder beside settings.json with history and API keys. Back up the whole user folder to preserve them. Exact subfolder names vary by plugin and Wox version, so check the folder listing first.
