Where Does aTalk Store Accounts and History?
aTalk keeps XMPP accounts, OMEMO keys and chat history in private app storage with backup export built in.
Last updated
aTalk stores accounts, encryption keys and message archives in its private app storage, sealed from file browsers. Server contact lists resync on login, but local history does not.
The app ships its own backup path for exactly that reason. Export the database from settings before reinstalling, since nothing outside the app can reach the files.
Where aTalk stores this, by platform
/data/data/org.atalk.android
Private storage with accounts, keys and history. Verify the package on the Play Store listing if your build differs. Use the in app backup export rather than file copies.
Frequently asked questions
how do i back up atalk chats
Export from inside aTalk settings to shared storage. The private database cannot be copied by file managers, so the export is the only route.
will reinstalling atalk lose my messages
Local history, yes. Roster and server side archives return on login, but OMEMO encrypted content needs the original keys from a backup.
