Where Does Affinity Publisher Store Settings?

Affinity Publisher V2 keeps settings in the .affinity folder on Windows MSIX installs, with documents saved separately.

Last updated

Publisher follows the same split as its siblings. Your .afpub pages go where you save them. Brushes, presets, dictionaries, and preferences go to a per user data folder. Back up both sides before a reinstall or a Windows reset, since only documents are obvious.

Windows is the confusing one. V2 MSIX builds use %USERPROFILE%\.affinity. MSI builds and V1 use AppData Roaming. On Mac the difference is Serif direct versus Mac App Store container. Match your install type before copying anything.

Where Affinity Publisher stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\[Username]\.affinity\Publisher\2.0

MSIX default. MSI/EXE and V1 use %APPDATA%\Affinity\Publisher. Linked resources referenced by a document stay where you left them, so keep those paths stable too.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Publisher/user

Mac App Store copies live under ~/Library/Containers with the Serif bundle ID. The user folder content is not human readable, so migrate it whole instead of cherry picking.

Frequently asked questions

Where are Affinity Publisher linked images stored?

Wherever they were when you placed them. Publisher references them by path. Move the images and the links break. Package or embed resources before archiving a long document.

Why is there no Affinity folder in Roaming AppData?

You likely used the MSIX installer, which writes to %USERPROFILE%\.affinity instead. MSI installs and V1 builds use Roaming AppData. Check the .affinity folder first.
