Where Does ATLauncher Store Instances?

Where ATLauncher keeps instances, mods, and saves when it runs portably from its own folder.

Last updated

ATLauncher is portable: it stores everything next to wherever you put the launcher files. There is no AppData split to memorize. Instances, servers, and downloaded runtimes all grow inside that one folder.

That simplicity has one rule. Give it a stable home first. Running from Downloads or a synced cloud folder leads to locked files and lost instances. A short path outside system folders avoids permission trouble.

Where ATLauncher stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Games\ATLauncher\Instances\

Portable root. Instances live in an Instances subfolder beside the launcher. Move the whole folder to relocate everything.

macOS
~/ATLauncher/Instances/

Same portable layout as Windows. Instances sit beside the launcher app or jar. Keep it out of iCloud Drive.

Linux
~/ATLauncher/Instances/

Same portable layout. Instances sit beside the launcher jar. Flatpak installs may sandbox this; check where you granted filesystem access.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I install ATLauncher?

Put the launcher in its own folder (not Downloads, Program Files, or a cloud drive) and run from there. Instances, configs, and runtimes are created beside the launcher automatically.

How do I back up an ATLauncher instance?

Each instance folder holds that pack's mods, saves, and configs. Copy the instance folder to back it up. You can also use the in-app backup for saves, but a full folder copy is simpler for moving PCs.
