Avorion keeps galaxies in Roaming AppData under its own name, with each galaxy in a named subfolder. The official FAQ confirms this spot for Windows and gives the Linux twin beside it.
Server hosts care about this folder more than anyone, since whole multiplayer galaxies live inside single directories. Copy the galaxy folder and the sector travels intact.

%APPDATA% is Roaming. [GalaxyName] is your galaxy's folder. Linux builds use ~/.avorion in the same role. Copy the galaxy folder for complete backups.
