Where Does Bambu Studio Store Presets?

Bambu Studio's user preset folder on Windows and Mac and how to export bundles cleanly.

Last updated

Bambu Studio separates system presets that ship with the app from user presets you create. User filament, printer and process presets live in a user folder under the app config root, with cloud synced profiles in a long numbered sibling.

For moves between machines, exporting bundles from inside the app beats raw copying. It writes .bbscfg and .bbsflmt files that import without path fixups.

Where Bambu Studio stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\BambuStudio\user

Config root is %APPDATA%\BambuStudio. Custom presets in user, including default and numbered cloud subfolders with .json files. Open via Help > Show Configuration Folder.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/BambuStudio

Same user subfolder layout. Deleting or renaming this folder forces first run setup again, which helps when the app refuses to open after a bad update.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Bambu Studio presets to a new PC?

Use export to write printer, filament or process bundles, then import them on the new machine. Raw copy the user folder only as a fallback, and expect to relink printers.

Where are system presets if I want to inspect them?

Under the install resources profiles tree, not the user folder. Edit copies as user presets instead, since upgrades replace system files.
