Where Does Bannerlord Store Mods?

Bannerlord mods live as Modules subfolders in the game install, each with its own manifest. The launcher orders them top to bottom.

Last updated

Bannerlord mods are Modules: self contained folders in the Modules directory of the game install, each carrying a manifest the launcher reads. Order in the launcher is the load order, top to bottom, and dependencies must precede their users. Native modules ship in the same folder, so custom entries sit beside official ones.

Script extender versions gate the whole stack. Patches break the extender, the extender update unblocks the mods, and impatient updating in between corrupts saves. Harmony style mods conflict by design when two touch one method, so read compatibility notes before stacking overhauls.

Where Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord stores this, by platform

Windows
[Steam]\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules

One folder per mod with its manifest inside, beside the Native modules. Order top to bottom in the launcher. Lock extender and game versions together.

Frequently asked questions

The game crashes on launch with mods. How do I find the culprit?

Read the crash log for the failing module name, then disable the bottom half of the list and bisect. Dependency mods like script extenders must sit above everything using them. Version lock the game build the mods target.

Can I keep separate mod profiles?

Yes, the launcher saves module sets as configurations. Keep one stable set for campaigns and one experimental set for new toys. Never test fresh mods on a hundred hour save.
