Where Are Black Ops III Saves and Settings Located?

Black Ops III keeps config and local saves in a players folder inside the install directory, not in Documents.

Last updated

Black Ops III puts player data in a players folder inside the game install directory, not in Documents like many older Call of Duty titles. On Steam that means steamapps\common\Call of Duty Black Ops III\players. The folder holds config.ini, local save data and stats.

Steam Cloud covers some settings, but campaign progress earned while connected online lives on Activision's servers. Copying the folder preserves local settings and offline data, not your online profile. That split matters after a reinstall.

Where Call of Duty: Black Ops III stores this, by platform

Windows
<SteamLibrary>\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Black Ops III\players

Config.ini, local saves and stats. The folder is inside the install directory, so it can be removed by a verify or reinstall. Steam Cloud covers some settings only.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Call of Duty Black Ops III/players

Aspyr macOS build. Same players folder name, stored in Application Support instead of the app bundle.
