Where Are the Camera Roll and Saved Pictures Folders?

Camera Roll and Saved Pictures are user folders Windows creates for camera apps and screenshot tools.

Last updated

Windows creates Camera Roll and Saved Pictures inside your Pictures library for apps that need their own drop zone. Camera apps default to the first, and screenshot utilities often suggest the second.

Both are ordinary folders despite the special names, and relocating Pictures moves them along. Missing captures usually mean the app saved to its own default instead. Search both before assuming the capture failed.

Where Windows stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Pictures\Camera Roll

Default landing zone for camera apps and many capture tools. Ordinary folders inside Pictures; relocating the library moves them together.

Frequently asked questions

My photos are not in Pictures. Where else do I look?

Camera apps save there by default, and many screenshot tools offer it as a target. Check both folders plus Pictures when a capture goes missing.
