Where Does Amazon Chime Store Local Data?
Amazon Chime local data and cache folders on Windows and Mac, and the delete-folder fix for login loops.
Last updated
Amazon Chime keeps its desktop state in the standard per user app data folder: a Chime folder under Roaming AppData on Windows, and a bundle named cache folder on macOS. Meetings, contacts and recordings all live server-side, so these directories hold cache and login state rather than anything precious.
That split makes the folders safe to delete for troubleshooting. AWS support's own reset flow is quitting Chime, removing the local folder and signing in fresh. Older installs may use a plain Chime folder name instead of Amazon Chime, so check for both.
Where Amazon Chime stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Amazon Chime
Older versions use %APPDATA%\Chime without the Amazon prefix. Quit every Chime process from Task Manager before deleting, or locked files survive and the reset fails silently.
~/Library/Caches/com.amazon.Amazon-Chime
This is the cache directory AWS names in its own update troubleshooting. Deleting it while Chime is quit clears the same stuck state as the Windows reset. Your meetings and contacts re sync on next sign in.
Frequently asked questions
chime is stuck logging in, how do i reset it
Quit Chime fully, delete the local data folder, and sign in again. AWS documents this reset for stuck updates and login loops. You lose local cache only, since contacts and history sync from your account.
where are my chime recordings stored
They are not on your disk. Chime meeting recordings and chat history live in your AWS account and admin console, not in the desktop folders. The local directories hold cache, session state and settings.
